Very long ago, MR.SHANMUGAM CHETTIAR from the year 1920, He manufactured "GROUNDNUT OIL" from
groundnut seeds. He manufactured oil in a traditional way using "WOODEN CHEKKU" and sold it
in and around Ramapuram, Mallasamuthram and other surrounding villages.
After his demise, His son "S.RAJAGOPAL" in the year 1965 started his own venture
"M/S.S.RAJAGOPAL" in Salem. He manufactured 'GROUNDNUT OIL' using 'MODERN EXPELLER'.

During the period of 1965-1987, the manufactured oil was sold under the brand name "SR", which established good reputation among wholesale buyers of various states such as Bombay, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamilnadu etc., The quality of the oil was maintained as the best of seeds were procured from marketing committees of Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh.

In the year 1988, his son R.SHANMUGAM entered into the business after pursuing his bachelor's in
Business Administration. He also indulged in manufacturing and selling 'GROUNDNUT OIL' in
the year 1995
In the year 1995 as a forward step, trading of Sunflower oil & Plamolein oil was started,
which was purchased from importers and sold to wholesale buyers in and around Salem.
During 1995 to 2011; Groundnut oil was branded as "AROKYAM", Sunflower oil was branded as
"NICE" and Palmolein oil as "SR PALM". Because of quality & hard work, these brands became
famous among public.

Then later in 2011, his successor S.PRADEEPRAJ, entered in to the family business after
pursuing Engineering and Master in Business Administration. He worked as wealth manager at
ICICI Bank for 18 months and put up his resignation and joined the traditional family
business. He concentrated on retail market under the firm name "SR OIL INDUSTRIES".
After a year as a part of backward integration, a new venture was started in the name
of "SR TRADES AND EXPORTS" for procuring and trading groundnut kernel.
In the year 2014, PURNIMA PRADEEPRAJ B.Com.., MBA (HR) also
joined the family business and taking care of all the ACCOUNTS AND HR Department activities wisely.
